Around 1918, a decision was made to replace many railways in London and along the South Coast, where countless redundant railway carriages were sitting unused. Many of these carriages were sold for prices ranging from £10 to £50 and converted into holiday homes in Pagham, where many still stand today, often with additional modifications and conversions. It's not every day that you clean the windows of an old railway carriage in Bognor Regis!
